What to do After You Change Your Name?
You just got married and plan to change your name accordingly. Whether you hyphenate, keep your maiden name as a middle name, combine your maiden and married names, or simply become Mrs. “your new family name” You need to go through a name change process. You need to notify different individuals, agencies and organizations. A task that may seem quite overwhelming.
When you are ready, you’ll need to contact and notify the:
- Social security,
- US passport generators (in many states the Post Office generates passports), If you plan on traveling overseas on your honeymoon, the name on your airline ticket must match the name on your passport. So, wait until you return to change your name and book your tickets in your maiden name.
- Department of motor vehicles, change of name on your driver’s license and car registration.,

- Insurance company (ies)

- Organizations of which you are a member.

- Notifications can be done by phone or mail with the majority offering an internet change on your PROFILE page.
